A return to Beara

The O'Sullivan Ancestral Trail

A family journey through Adrigole, Bearhaven, Dunboy, Dursey, and the places that carry the O'Sullivan story.

More than a tour

A Family Returning Home

This is more than a tour of Beara. It is a return to the places that shaped the O'Sullivan story and to an Ireland Aunt Sheila always hoped the family would experience together.

  1. O'Sullivan Family Farm, Adrigole

The heart of Tuesday's return and a living connection to the family's Irish roots.

    Open the Adrigole map
  2. Castletown-Bearhaven

Historic home of the O'Sullivan-Beare clan, known today as Castletownbere.

  3. Dunboy Castle Ruins

The stronghold of the O'Sullivan-Bere family and a historically significant, poignant place in the clan's story. Approach it with reflection and respect.

  4. Dursey Island

Birthplace of Donal O'Sullivan, reached from Lamb's Head at the western edge of Beara.

  5. Derreenataggart Stone Circle

A Bronze Age stone circle west of Castletown-Bearhaven. Beara Tourism confirms the local spelling: Derreenataggart.

  6. O'Sullivan Castle Remains

Near Bearhaven, approximately 20 minutes from the family farm, these remains offer another quiet connection to the family's history.
